Life on Purpose

By Pastor Poncho, November 23, 2009

Ever wonder what your purpose in life is?

It has been said that 95% of young people today struggle articulating the purpose for which they were created. Today more than ever, young people need to understand their purpose in life. With secular culture, entertainment, music, the devil and many other negative influences bombarding young people they need to know what they’re going after in life. Otherwise it’s too easy to get side tracked with the wrong things of this world.

My experience is that young Christians today are often embracing a doctrine of “NO” rather than a doctrine of “Yes”. They’re so busy focusing on saying “no” to all the bad things of this world, when really they’re called to focus on saying “yes” to the things God has called the to do. It’s time for us to put our primary focus on the things we should be saying “yes” to; pursuing our God given purpose!

The Bible gives us a clear understanding of our God given purpose. When you understand your purpose it’s easy to live a life of “yes”. Your purpose in life can be summed up in two things, simply put it’s “To know God and make Him known”.

1.   To know God

Your primary purpose in life is to have a relationship with God, the creator of the universe! To truly know God you need to pursue Him daily. This can be done through reading the Word, spending time in prayer and being in community with other Christians. Remember, God paid the ultimate price so we could have the ultimate relationship with Him! It says in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

2.   And to make Him known

Second to knowing God, is making Him know. You are called to GO and make Gods love known to a lost world. Not only does God love you, but He loves all people regardless of their past mistakes and failures. I believe that if you were to ask God what He is thinking about right now, He would say “lost people”. He makes this clear in His charge to us in the Gospel of Mark 16:15 “Go and preach the good news to everyone, everywhere!”

Conclusion:

God has empowered you to be an agent of His love to a lost world. You were created you to reach lost people! Now is the time for all Christians to say “Yes” to their God given purpose! Begin to seek God like never before; Spend more time reading your Bible, praying with more passion and then go share your faith to everyone, everywhere!

“All People matter to God therefore they should matter to us” – Pastor Marc Estes

Question:

How can you practically live your life on Purpose?
